September

Middlesbrough College signs for a 5200sqft. suite at Royal Middlehaven House. The College has experienced astonishing success since opening last year at it's new iconic building at Middlehaven. The new teaching facility at Royal Middlehaven House will cater for adult learner courses and will be open by the end of this month.

CVFM, Middlebrough's newest latest community radio station begins broadcasting from 83 Borough Road - a Python Property

The station which broadcasts on 104.5.FM will officially launch on Thursday 10th September at The Python Gallery.


August

Tesco, Britain's largest and most successful retailer signs agreement to open a 5000sq ft Tesco Express store on the ground floor of the Cooperative Buildings.

The new store, which is scheduled to open by the end of this year will mean that the ground floor retail area is fully let.

Work continues at The Cooperative Building, on the new art-deco reception area for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor offices.

The Cooperative Buildings wins the Evening Gazette poll for the best building of any category in the MBC Urban Design Awards.

The poll, which the Cooperative Building won by a margin of 3:1 over it's nearest rival, clearly demonstrates the popularity of retaining and restoring historic buildings to sustainable use.

Following the awards the Cooperative Building is generating a good level of interest from prospective retail (ground floor) and office (upper floor) tenants.

Middlesbrough Borough Council, Design Awards

 

The Cooperative Buildings wins the Middlesbrough Council Design Award 2009 for best commercial building.

 

At  packed awards ceremony at MIMA, the judging panel, made up of prominent architects, praised the way this building had been restored to its Art Deco roots and given a new, sustainable future.

 

The ground floor is now fully let to retail units. Brand new office suites are available to rent on the first, second, and third floors. Features include a manned reception, fronting onto Linthorpe Road, plenty of secure car parking in the underground car park and unusually light and spacious office suites. Rents are from £8.50 / sq ft and a service charge is circa £2 / sq ft.

A substantial grant is secured for future works to the Cargo Fleet Offices. This should pave the way for planned refurbishment works to the building by the end of the 2009


November

The Python Gallery short listed for National Arts Award for community involvement. This was held at a plush BAFTA-style reception at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. The gallery did not win, but was placed ahead of the British Museum!


October

On-site Bistro opens on the ground floor at Bank Quay House. The Bistro will provide catering for the building office suites and is also open to the public.

Complete refurbishment of Maxwell’s Corner. Additional Lengths, hair extension salon, moves in. The building is now fully let.

October

New Stockton branch office opened at 45 Mandale Road, Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, TS17 6AD.

This office is mainly to serve the established portfolio of properties in Stockton for our Durham University (Stockton Campus) students

Refurbishment commenced on the historic Maxwell’s Corner Building at the end of Stockton High Street. This landmark building, empty for many years, will be restored to its former glory. The ground floor and basement areas are to be occupied by the award-winning Additional Lengths hair salon; the upper floors are high quality apartments.


Python reaches initial agreement with several creative industry companies to take suites in Royal Middlehaven House. These companies have been formed and nurtured through the University of Teesside and Python is delighted to be part of the process of assisting these bright young entrepreneurs to develop and also to stay in the area.

This will also mean that the regeneration of Royal Middlehaven House will be complete, as it will then be fully let.

Python completes refurbishment of 85 Borough Road, Reeds Rains a national estate agent opens at the location.

The Python Gallery opens at Royal Middlehaven House with Café Prego as a partner business within the gallery. 200 people attend the opening event for the fist exhibition ‘Elements versus Location’.

“Investors in People” audit Python Properties and found a high level of progress in all areas. An open culture with strong management is evident and the audit is passed with flying colours. Python retains its IIP status and continues to grow through the advancement of its much-valued employees.

June

Python appoints a professional curator for the art gallery at Royal Middlehaven. His brief is to develop the gallery as a 1st class art facility for Middlesbrough and the wider region.

May

Python commences refurbishment of 85 and 89 Borough road for commercial tenants.

April

Python completes refurbishment of 87 Borough Road. Café 87, a high quality café, opens.

March

Python opens new offices at 93 Borough Road under Mark Oates, General Manager and former Merchant Navy Officer. This office in the refurbished former Crutes Solicitors site on the corner of Borough and Albert Road, is ideally suited to deal with our student, executive and small commercial tenants.

The building also houses the company’s 24-hour maintenance's dept and also the accounts dept.

Python joins with the Carbon Neutral Company to devise a carbon neutral transport policy. From 15th March all carbon emitted by company vehicles is balanced out by support for the Forestry in One World Portfolio.

February

Python acquires the Cargo Fleet Offices. This beautiful period office building formerly the Head Office of Dorman Long steel company, had been severely neglected and vandalised. It was scheduled for demolition to be replaced by industrial units.

Python’s plans are to firstly to stabilise and secure the site, and then seek partner tenants to regenerate the building to its former glory as a fully refurbished office complex.

January

An on-site Bistro is opened in the Royal Middlehaven House Art Gallery. This facility is to service the gallery, tenants in the building and businesses and general public in the surrounding areas.
