‘Transmissions from an Outsider’ by Mary Lou Springstead

Transmissions from an Outsider is a solo exhibition by the artist Mary Lou Springstead. (Please see attached files for more information.)

Mary Lou’s paintings and drawings combine the mystic and the mundane, the expressionistic and the surreal to produce images of a world that is immensely familiar and yet populated with an uncanny and intriguing sense of the strange and beguiling.

Mary Lou Springstead was born in Brooksville, Florida in 1970. She received her BA in Studio Art from Rollins College in 1992. In 1996, she received her MA in Art Therapy from Florida State University. She is a recent graduate from Teesside University where in 2011 she received her MA in Future Design. Springstead has exhibited her work in both the US and the UK. Her illustrations have been featured extensively in The Black Light Engine Room literary magazine. She leads visual art workshops for children and adults. She currently lives and works in Middlesbrough.For more information see: www.marylouspringstead.com
