It is a show which beautifully encapsulates her depictions of Landscape and Urban Photography from the immediate Teesside area and also from her many trips to Scotland.
The work is focused, detailed and beautifully rendered. it really is a remarkable exhibition.

Guisborough and District Embroiderers Guild
The Embroiderers Guild exists to build awareness of stitch and textile art.
The Guisborough Branch began in 1982 with 20 members and now has 35. There are still a few people who have been members since its inauguration.
We hold monthly meetings usually with a speaker on the first Saturday of the month and have a morning workshop on the 2nd Monday. We also have occasional day schools, spending a day with a textile artist learning new skills.
Everyone is welcome and we try to cater for all abilities and tastes. All you need is an interest.
We have the title of ‘Guild’ but embroidery has changed greatly over the years and as can be seen by the exhibits, embroidery is diverse and exciting.

Bethan Turner
(b.Stockton-on-Tees 28 September 1991) Bethan lives in Yarm near Middlesbrough. Art has always been important to her, from drawing manga characters when she was a 10 year old, to painting portraits of public figures on a collage background, which she specializes in today.
Bethan has autism but she never lets her disability stop her doing what she loves to do which is to paint
Her Art reflects her interests in four different areas of popular culture, Film, Music, Sport and TV.
Portraits are her specialty. Bethan makes a collage on the canvases of items that relate to the person she is going to paint, then, paints their portrait over the collage background. Her paintings are not two-dimensional, they have depth and texture. Her paintings tell a story about the individual, about their background, their interests and what this person likes and enjoys. Her portraits are tailored to the individual.

Her portraits are attaching a lot of followers on social media including four famous people such as Jay McGuiness who is a member of the British boy band “The Wanted” and Strictly Come Dancing Champion in 2015, two of the professional dancers from Strictly Come Dancing Karen Clifton and Natalie Lowe and West End star Jessica Martin

Bethan displayed some of her artwork at the World Autism Day in Middlesbrough in March 2013.

On Friday 24th November from 6:30-8:30, we are launching ‘Made On Monday’ by the Lakeside Artist’s.
It is a show comprising painting and drawing from some very interesting locally based arts practitioners. In their own words:
Lakeside Artists
Exhibition
‘Made on Monday’
Lakeside Artists is a group of adults with a shared love of the visual arts who meet on a weekly basis at The Barn, overlooking Hemlington Lake in Middlesbrough. During these practical, day-long sessions we explore, through painting and 3-D arts, the world around us.
Lakeside Artists is a self-financing group and started meeting in 2012. The Exhibition, ‘Made on Monday’,at the Python Gallery, Royal Middlehaven House, is drawn from work we have produced at our Monday sessions and includes items for sale.
Working in a range of media, from oils and acrylics, to pastel, ink, watercolour and pencil, the group displays a wide variety of styles. In addition to hands on painting we also visit exhibitions, enjoy painting trips and host visiting experts for workshop events.
Our aim is to continue to push ourselves to further develop our skills and to experiment in an environment of mutual support and constructive criticism. For more information call in at the Barn, access from Nuneaton Drive, any Monday between 10 and 3 or telephone 01642814651.
The Python Exhibition space is on the ground floor at Royal Middlehaven House and the exhibition will have it’s official opening on Friday 24th November between 6.30pm and 8.30pm when you can enjoy a glass of wine and speak with the artists. Thereafter it will be open during normal office hours until Friday 19th January. Why not visit the excellent café that shares the same space and browse the art work at your leisure?

Hello,
We would cordially like to invite you to the next fabulous exhibition opening at pythongallery on THURSDAY 5th October, from 7-9pm.
It is a Group show entitled Curated Space.
The work has been brought together by artist Jo Davis and includes the work of Steff Mitchell, Helen Birmingham, Jo Davis, Sally Gatie, Adam King, John Leaf, Andrew Cheetham, Kane Cunningham, Jake Jones, Peter Hicks, Andy Black and Bren Head.
This diverse group of artists are connected by the geographic area in which they live and work. They do not generally show their work together but they have in common the North Yorkshire Coast where they have made their home.
Inspired by landscape, the rugged coastline and geographical isolation, these artists have come together to show their work in this engaing and visually stunning exhibition.

The next fabulous exhibition opening at pythongallery is on Friday 18th August, from 6:30-8:30.
It is a solo show by the artist Catherine Reed.
The exhibition features Paintings and sculpture which are alive with colour, movement and vigour. Inspired by Catherine’s childhood growing up in Africa, the work crosses the boundaries between Western and African art, and between Abstraction and Colour. It is visually rich, dynamic and enthralling.

An exciting and colourful exhibition by North East artist Catherine Reed, showing work inspired by a
life in Africa and travels around the world.
The title of the exhibition is taken from the Swahili word SAFARI (Journey) – the exhibition itself
reflects the proverb Kusafiri ni Kujifonza ,meaning ‘Travelling is Learning’
The exhibition features vibrant oil paintings, mixed media works and enamel on glass. Along with
sculptures made from welded scrap metal inspired by African street art this is a must see exhibition.

On Friday 23rd June, 6:30-8:30 we are very pleased to be launching Basis, a brand new group show by a selection of the very first graduates from CCAD’s Fine Art degree course.
The work is a testament to the commitment these artists have shown throughout their studies, and a very positive reflection on the course as a whole. It is a strong and cohesive show that enables all of the individual creative voices to speak in unity whilst still expressing their own individual identity. The broad range of singular visual enquiry makes for an interesting and engaging exhibition that deals with multiple issues but fits together seamlessly. It really is a great show to see, and I speak for all at python, that we are very pleased to be able to assist these new creative people in the next stage of their artistic careers.

Basis is a collaboration of several fine art graduates from Cleveland College of Art and Design, who have been given the opportunity to exhibit as emerging artists by The Python Gallery.
The exhibition consists of diverse artworks with a range of different concepts. The show exhibits a variation of medias, displaying painting, installation, drawing, printing, sculpture and textiles.
We welcome you to the private viewing on the 23rd June, 6:30pm til 8:30pm, open til the 21st July.

On Friday 5th May, 6:30-8:30 we are very pleased to be launching Rhythm and Hues, a brand new show by artist David Griffiths.
David is a photographic artist based in the North east of England.
His digital artworks are a blend of true representation and stylistic interpretation. The results are unique and vibrant multi-faceted images often merging between reality and abstraction.
This distinctively personalised and imaginative style of contemporary work captures fine detail from the natural world, dynamic shapes from architecture and emotion from portraiture.
In his work David explores complex aspects of visual depth, perspective, colour and form combined with the subtle use of shadow, light and reflection.
David places no limitations in his quest to capture diverse and interesting images which develop into original pieces of fine art.

pythongallery is very pleased to be hosting two exhibitions which support the developing work of second year Fine Art Students from two Degree courses from the North East.
In the main gallery we are hosting a show titled VII, which features the work of students from CCAD based in Hartlepool.
In the Upstairs space on the first floor we are hosting a show from students based at the University of Teesside.
Both shows illustrate the wealth of developing creative talent in the area whilst also demonstrating the strength and positivity of the creative climate of the region.
Both exhibitions feature a wide variety of approaches, styles, methodologies, materials and visual enquiry and are truely and rewarding shows.

The Exhibition is open to the public from Sat 4th of Feb until Friday 31st of March.
The exhibition is painting and drawing based, focusing on modern portraiture and figurative painting, exploring the life of the artist and how that intertwines with the lives of the viewer.
“Sirens of my relief” a title, which explains a lot about the whole exhibition, the act of painting, the exploration, each new piece created is another step towards relief for the artist. Just as so many of us search for whatever relief may mean to them, searching and seeking for true happiness, for inner peace, a soul mate, money, fame whatever it may be which the person believes will make their lives better.
Exploring past events, feelings, memories, grief or joy each painting reveals something of the artists life, each feminine portrait becomes a self portrait, and a reflection.
The viewer is invited to experience, not just look, but feel, to really explore how the work makes them feel.
In this poignant time when women all over the world are rising to make their voices heard, for so many reasons, not least for control over their own bodies, control over their own minds, this exhibition explores what is means to be a woman, what it means to the artist, who still works within an art world dominated by men.
