You See What I See – Cyanotype is an exhibition of images taken without a camera, by young adults with Autism.
Mark and Nel Hickson, photographers, and Fran Hunnisett, Project Manager, ran a series of autism friendly photography workshops. The Cyanotype workshops were attended by 6 young adults with autism, aged between 16 and 27.
Through photographs and original cyanotypes, the exhibition explains the process of making cyanotypes and displays the beautiful blue and white images produced.
The exhibition also includes images from You See What I See – a series of photographs taken from the unique perspective of young adults with autism.
Autism, as defined by the National Autistic Society, is ‘a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with, and relates to, other people. It also affects how they make sense of the world around them.’
Autism is often perceived to be about difference. In this exhibition these young adults with autism invite you to look at their images and consider this – ‘You See What I See’
