Sirens of my Relief Exhibition on Public Display at Python Gallery
Added: 20/03/2017

Dianne Bowell’s solo exhibition, Sirens of my Relief, is on display to the public at award-winning art gallery, Python Gallery in Middlesbrough.

The painting and drawing exhibition, which is available to view until Friday March 31st at Python Gallery within Royal Middlehaven House in Middlesbrough, focuses on modern portraiture and figurative paintings, and explores the life of an artist and how it intertwines with the lives of the viewers.

The title, Sirens of my Relief, is descriptive of the exhibition; the act of painting and the exploration, and how each new piece created is another step towards relief for the artist.  In the same way most people search for whatever relief may mean to them personally; searching and seeking for true happiness, inner peace, a soul mate, money, fame, whatever it may be which the person believes will make their lives better.

Exploring past events, feelings, memories, grief and joy, each painting reveals something of the artist’s life, and each feminine portrait becomes a self-portrait and a reflection.

In this poignant time when women all over the world are rising to make their voices heard for so many reasons, not least control over their own bodies and minds, this exhibition explores what it means to be a woman and an artist who still works within an art world dominated by men.

We were looking around for buildings we could lease and this is was one of the central offices which has been refitted. We could choose the interior layout that we wanted and any optional extras and we decided that Bank Quay House was the building that exactly suited our needs. The money per square footage is very competitive; the owners Martin & Peter are very approachable and very, very good at listening
